Mysuru: Following the supreme court verdict on the afternoon of September 27th, protests have erupted in the Cauvery heartland, disrupting traffic on the state highway as various Kannada organizations and farmer associations took to streets once again. The news of SC verdict spread like wild fire and protestors immediately took to streets to vent their anger against the SC verdict. In Mysuru protesters blocked the highway to Tamilnadu near gun house and shouted slogans demanding the state administration to not release Cauvery water.

In the city, protestors used empty pots and plates and shouted that injustice has been done to Karnataka by the Supreme Court. Many others protested in front of the DC office in Mysore against the inhuman attitude of the Tamil Nadu government. In Mandya, protestors belonging to Cauvery Hitha Rakshana Vedike (HRV) blocked the state highway throwing traffic out of gear once again.
In the meantime, the state government has decided to hold an all party meeting in the banquet hall of Vidhana Soudha on September 28th to decide the future course of action. Elaborate securities arrangements have been made by the state government to prevent any unwanted incidents following the SC verdict. Most party leaders have called on to people to maintain peace.
Pramoda Devi Wodeyar’s view on Cauvery issue:
Pramoda Devi Wodeyar in her response to the Cauvery tangle said, “Even during the construction of KRS dam, there were a lot of obstacles.” She suggested that both states should solve the problem through negotiations which according to her will augur well for people from both the sides.
