Mysuru: “UPSC exam is not a short distance race. It’s a marathon which needs similar preparation,” said Deputy Commissioner D Randeep who also revealed to the participants that he himself cleared the exam in the fourth attempt.

Speaking after inaugurating a day-long workshop for UPSC aspirants at Kalamandir, organised by the District Administration on Monday, Randeep called upon the aspirants who failed to clear in the first attempt not to get dejected and exhorted them to keep on trying until they succeeded. “Even I did not clear IAS in the first attempt. It took me three failed attempts to reach this position. Lot of efforts and hard work are needed to clear the examination as it is the toughest of all the examinations conducted across the world. Do not worry if you failed to crack UPSC despite adequate preparation. Your preparation will not go in vain as you can clear any other examination with no difficulty”, he enthused.

He advised the aspirants to prepare themselves accordingly, while stressing on the need to update themselves with the current affairs. He also mentioned that that the efforts to guide the aspirants would be continuous and the District Administration would create a discussion forum online to help the aspirants learn and pose questions to the experts.

Sessions from experts on various topics including memory skills, interpersonal skills including communication skills, mental ability and strategies for preparing for the exam were part of the workshop. Superintendent of Police Ravi D Channanavar was also present.
