Mysuru: Here is good news for outstanding University of Mysore sport spersons! To promote and encourage outstanding sports persons of University of Mysore, Dayanand Mane, Vice Chancellor (In-charge) University of Mysore not only assured to enhance cash award for those who secure prizes in the All India Inter University competitions but also instructed the authorities concerned to introduce cash awards for those who excel in the South Zone inter university competition. He has instructed the authorities to convene a meeting in a week and submit all details at the earliest.
Though many other universities across the state encourage outstanding sports persons especially those who secure prizes in the All India university competitions, University of Mysore provides just Rs 20,000 for those who win gold medal, Rs 15,000 for silver medal and Rs 10,000 for bronze medal which is not the same where many universities provide more than Rs 30,000 and some even Rs 50,000 for winning gold medals. When this was brought to the notice of Dayanand Mane, he immediately spoke to the authorities and even had a discussion with them for few minutes. Later, he assured that a committee will be formed and meeting will be convened at the earliest and the cash award will be enhanced to the outstanding sports persons from the University. He also assured to introduce cash awards to those who secure prizes in the south zone inter-university competitions.

Department of Physical Education, UoM felicitated and gave cash award for those who secured medal in the All India Inter University Sports Competitions and also cash awards and incentives to the Mysore University inter collegiate sports competitions champion teams in athletics, cross country, inter collegiate, inter zonal men and women games.
Among the award winners are Meghana Devang from Maharanis Arts College who secured silver medal in the All India inter university competition, Yoga team of UoM comprising of N Sanjay, J Sanjay Kumar, J Praveen Kumar, MI Akshay, S Naveen Kumar, Mahadeva Swamy H B, B Ravi (coach) and Anthony Moses (Manager). UoM women’s Kho Kho team too excelled by winning third place in the AlIUC. The team comprises of Ruchita, Prapulla, Poornima, Sneha, Lathashree, Manjula, Anulya, Megha, Sushma, Bhavya, Sushma, Pallavi, Kantharaja BD (Coach) and Kumaraswamy (Manager). The disappointed amongst those who attended were the south zone women’s hockey champion team. Though they have emerged as champs in the South Zone inter university hockey women’s event, University of Mysore is not having provision to provide any cash awards to these girls.
