In punctuality, Mysuru division is third in the country

Mysuru: As part of 62nd railway week celebration, Atul Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Mysuru division, SWR awarded outstanding employees belonging to 14 different departments for the year 2016-17 at Railway Kalyanamantap here on Wednesday.

Gomateshwara Express receives good response from train commuters-1When it comes to punctuality, Mysuru division stands third in the country–Mail and Express at 97.58 percent and Passenger at 98.64 percent.

Atul Gupta, DRM, Mysuru division, SWR briefing about performance of the division for the year 2016-17 said, “The division has won efficiency shields for Medical, Safety and also Kaduru Station was bestowed with best railway station award under minor station category. Apart from this, there is marginal increase in the division’s Originating Earnings; last year the originating earnings was Rs 608.79 Crore while this year it is Rs 608.97 with a marginal increase of Rs 0.03 when compared to last year. In spite of lots of efforts to boost freight traffic by conducting marketing meetings at various levels, division could achieve overall loading of 4.815 Million Tonnes which was 5.038 Million Tonnes last year. Division transported 481.74 lakh passengers which was 484.50 lakh last year. The division earned Rs 4.65 Crore by way of Ticket Check and Magisterial Checks which was Rs.4.86 Crore last year. When it comes to safety aspect, 35 Level Crossings were eliminated (17 unmanned and 18 manned LCs) by way of constructing LH Subways/diversion.”

“During 2016-17, the division provided various amenities to passengers including Escalator on Platform No.1 and 6 at Mysuru, Sub-way connecting all platforms at Mysuru, Lifts at Platform No.2 & 3 and 4 & 5 at Mysuru, High speed Wi-fi facility at Mysuru, App based cab booking facility with leading cab aggregator “OLA Cabs” at Mysuru, Provision of VIP Lounge at Shivamogga and 39 POS machines installed at various locations to ease rush in ticket counters. The divisions Innovation Cell was put forward with the main objective to promote innovation among the employees. It has rolled out about 11 innovative ideas and among these 8 have already been implemented. Innovation ideas such as Drones for survey of vulnerable sections, Temporary Caution Order portable warning system, Hot-Standby Inverter Change Over system at Engineering Interlocked LC Gates, Rear View Mirror in Locomotives, Auto reverse quick-fixing emergency chain for manned non interlocked LCs has been rolled out, Network enabled software app is designed to keep track of Quarters Allotments, Automated Railway Kalyanamantapam app is designed to handle and manage all the booking aspects of the Railway Kalyanamantapam” added Gupta.

Vishvanath Naik, Chief Office Superintendent, Personnel Branch, Mysuru was selected for the Ministry of Railway award which will be given on April 23. Four officers and 22 employees of Mysuru division have been recognised and awarded for their meritorious service by General Manager at the Zonal level during Railway Week Celebrations held on April 19 last year. On the occasion, Gupta also presented 109 individual, 13 group awards and also best maintained office award to Operating Department and best kept station to Nittur railway station of Mysuru division for the year 2016-17. Vishvanath who has completed nearly 26 years of service in Railways, speaking to Newskarnataka said, “With the Ministry of Railways award which is scheduled to be given on April 23, responsibility on me has increased.” In South Western Railway just six have been selected for Ministry of Railways award and Vishvanath is one among them.

P Ram, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Prashanth Masthiholi, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Mysuru division were also present.
