Mysuru: The University of Mysore (UoM) women’s team defeated host Calicut University by 4-0 to win the south zone inter university women’s hockey tournament organised by the Calicut University Physical Education Department on Saturday.

In the first match, University of Mysore registered a thrilling 2-1 win over Mangaluru University. Later the UoM girls came out with a much better performance to win the remaining two matches by a good margin. In the second match, UoM defeated Annamalai University by 4-1 while in the deciding finale the girls came out with an outstanding performance to beat host Calicut University by 4-0 goals. With this win, University of Mysore team has qualified for the all India inter university hockey competition.
Vijay Krishna of Sports Authority of Karnataka was the coach while Pulakeshi Y Settapanavar, senior hockey coach was the team manager.
