Mysuru: The organizers took a leaf out of epics Ramyana and Mahabharath where it is mentioned that Ashwamedha Yaga leads to good in difficult times. Bride was titled Dayamani (Mercy pearl) and the Groom Dhruvanarayan (celestial human). The bride was draped in traditional silk saree. The groom wore Panche and a towel(Shalya). Garlanded pair walked together and the rituals matched a typical Mysuru wedding. The couple was taken to the wedding hall in a procession where band was in presence playing melodies of yore.
Believe it or not! Cow the shy bride and the ox the bold groom entered holy union. Great family ties between bovine animals, isn’t it?

The wedding between innocent animals was held at Hampapura village in KR Nagar Taluk. Devotees of the ‘gaus’ not ‘rakshaks’ (vigilantes) K.Madhusudan Rao and Dr. Swaroopa Rani were instrumental in organizing the whole event who believe that the secreted cow urine has miraculous healing qualities.  There is enormous turbulence in the society which is ruled by violence, rape, riots and the organizers were trying to restore peace by hosting the wedding of this kind in a fragmented society which is converting humans to devils.

With great difficulty they brought the ‘couple’ together to tie the knot (symbolic affair) in the bedecked wedding hall where the traditional wedding rituals amid recitation of slokas (chants) took place.

Wedding cards were printed in advance and delivered to all the invitees. The ones who were present at the unique wedding were served sumptuous dinner which all relished.
