Mandya:The union railways minister Mallikarjun Karge offered assurances of withdrawing the cases that were registered on the farmers during the struggle over Cauvery River water sharing, only after discussing the issue with legal department officers of Indian Railways.
Addressing the media persons, the union minister Karge said that the Railways Protection Force registered cases on farmers who staged rail rook over Cauvery River water which has been brought to his notice, said minister Karge.
A few cases are also registered in Hubli division of railways and its not clear how many cases even in Mandya, said minister Karge.
In the history of Indian railways, none of the cases are withdrawn so far. If such cases are withdrawn in Karnataka, then it will have adverse effects on the rest of the states. This calls for serious thinking, added minister Karge.
