Mysore: The Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Minister of State for Civil Aviation GM Siddeshwara along with officials undertook an inspection of Mysore Airport at Mandakalli on Sunday August 4.

Following reports that SpiceJet, the only airlines in service from city, has decided to shut-down its operations from September 1, the ministers and other officials inspected the airport. They reviewed the possibilities of expanding the present runway and upgrading the airport.
Addressing the media, Ashok Gajapathi Raju , said that the railway line behind the airport and the National Highway in front of the airport, have been the major problem in the expansion and upgrading of the airport
Stating that Mysore is a tourist place, he said that the airport must be catered to at the earliest .The Central Government and the State Government should discuss it together to solve the problems, he concluded.
MP Pratap Simha, PWD Minister HC Mahadevappa, MCC Commissioner PG Ramesh, ZP President Dr Pushpavathi Amarnath and others accompanied the Ministers during their inspection of the airport.
