Three tree smugglers arrested from Bandipur forest

Mysuru: The forest officials have arrested three tree smugglers from Bandipur forest region.
Shankara from Kenchanahalli, Tathayya and Hirigandu are the arrested.

They were smuggling teakwood trees from the Bandipur forest region. Tree smuggling which is rampant in the N Begur forest area in H D Kote taluk has become a big headache for the forest officials. Following smuggling in the area, the officials had made beat guard facility to watch out for smugglers, and as a result arrested three persons. One person managed to escape.

The officials have seized wood worth one lakh from the accused.

Beechanahalli police have registered a case.
