Mysuru: In a tragic incident, three persons were electrocuted and more than five others sustained injuries while they were trying fix 30-ft Ambedkar cut-out at Kyathmarahalli on Thursday night.
The deceased are Kumarswamy (30), Manikanta (24) and Shivu (25)residents of Kyathmaranahalli.
As part of Ambedkar Jayanthi celebrations on Friday, the youths were busy putting cutouts of B R Ambedkar in their area on Thursday night when they came in contact with the high tension wire which was passing just above the 30-ft cut-out.Owing to the impact of the high tension wire the trio sustained severe injuries. While Manikanta succumbed to the burn injuries on the spot, Kumarswamy and Shivu succumbed to their injuries at KR Hospital. The trio who wanted to make Ambedkar Jayanthi a grand event on Friday, died well before the celebration. The injured are being treated at KR Hospital.
On Friday, HC Mahadevappa, District Minister and Deputy Commissioner D Randeep after paying tribute to B R Ambedkar as part of Ambedkar Jayanthi celebration, straight away went to mortuary where the deceased’s body was kept for autopsy. Mahadevappa along with DC D Randeep handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh each to the deceased’s family members.
