Mysuru: A bike rider was seriously injured and a bicyclist escaped with minor injuries when a car coming from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicles, in front of ‘More’ Supermarket near Chamundipuram Circle on Wednesday.
The seriously injured rider has been identified as 59-year-old Narendra M. Holegadde, a Chartered Accountant and a resident of Vidyaranyapuram while the cyclist has been identified as 35-year-old Ravi, a resident of Jayanagar in city.
It is reported that at about 8.45 am today, Ravi was proceeding towards RTO Circle from Chamundipuram Circle side followed by Narendra on his Hero Honda Splendor bike (KA-09 EA-2455).
When they were near the ‘More’ Supermarket, a Maruti Alto car (KA-03 MG-5660), driven by one Shivakumar, a High School teacher at a Government School in T.N. Pur and a resident of Agrahara near Nalapak Hotel, coming towards Chamundipuram Circle, suddenly veered to right and rammed into the cycle and the bike, went up thrice in the air, landed on its wheels and then crashed into the roadside tree.
The impact was so severe that the cycle broke into two and the bumper of the car was found about 40 ft. away from the accident spot.
Passersby, who witnessed the accident, immediately rushed the three injured persons to Vidyaranya Hospital nearby, where cyclist Ravi was treated as an outpatient, while Narendra, who sustained serious head injury and a fractured leg, was shifted to Kamakshi Hospital for further treatment.
On receiving information, K.R. Traffic Police personnel, Garuda vehicle and PCR personnel of Lakshmipuram Police Station rushed to the spot, cleared the road and seized the accident vehicles.
K.R. Traffic Inspector Nagegowda has registered a case and is investigation is on.
