Mysuru: Three students representing a hockey team team died on the spot and three others are battling for life after the car in which they were travelling was crushed by a lorry, at Byalakuppe near Periyapatna on Saturday.
The six students hailing from Madikeri were returning home after participating in a hockey tournament at Vidyavardhaka School.

Vivek, Subbaiah and Poovaiah, all in early 20s died on the spot while Jeevika, Thimmaiah and Vinay have been rushed to KM Hospital in Mysuru for treatment.

The mishap led to a traffic block on Mysuru-Mangaluru Highway for over five hours.
