Thousands attend Wadiyars Vaikunta Samaradhane in Mysore

Mysore :The 13th day Vaikunta Samaradhana rituals of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, the last scion of the Mysore royal family were held at the Ambavilasa Palace Kalyana Mantap on December 23, Monday. Wadiyar had breathed his last on December 10.

Wadiyars wife Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and his sisters Meenakshi Devi and Indrani Devi earlier accorded  Vagisha Swami, the pontiff of Parakalamutta by  offering him Pada Pooja. The rituals were performed by  Wadiyars nephew Kantharaje Urs and his wife  as per the Vaishnjava tradition.

Various rituals like Sri Vaishnava Divya Prambandha and Deshika Prabandha recitation, Godana, Navadana, Chatradana, Shaivadana and Padukadana were held. The rituals were held under the leadership of royal priest Janardhan Iyengar and around 50 other priests.

Floral tributes were paid to the portraits of Goddess Chamundeshwari and Wadiyar. Prasadam brought from Shringeri, Dharmasthala, Nanjanagud, Tirupathi, Chamundeshwari, Kashi Vishwanatha and Vaishnodevi Temples were distributed to the royal family members.

The Wadiyar clan members from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan too had arrived for the rituals. Earlier in the morning, there was pratishtapana at Chamundeshwari and Melukote Cheluvarayanaswamy Temples.The pooja was performed by Chandrashekhar Shastri and Dr Bhanuprakash Sharma.

KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar, JD(S) President Deve Gowda, District in-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad, MLAs Vasu, Shankerlingegowda, DCC President Dasegowda, former director of Palace Board Balasubrahmaniam. Former minister SA Ramdas, former cricketer Brijesh Patel and others participated in the programme.

Around 25000 people participated in the Anna Santharpane held on the occasion.
