Mysuru: An elephant taking a gentle leap to crossover railway tracks placed vertically mainly to prevent it from trespassing into human habitat has gone viral.

Elephants in Nagarhole Forest Reserve around Veerana Hosahalli and areas bordering Kodagu have learnt to hoodwink all impinging on their freedom.

It may be recalled that when few elephants had entered Mysuru city few years ago, one of them had jumped the compound walls of Maharaja College with ease to roam freely on city roads, thereby sending panic among Mysureans.

Elephants are very intelligent and observe weak links to execute their plans to precision, said a senior forest official, reacting on the visual which has gone viral.

In one more incident in Siddapur in Kodagu, an elephant had pulled down a coffee estate gate and used the same to cross over a deep trench.

In the Mysuru and Siddapur incidents, people had lost their lives. Severe drought and lack of sufficient food is forcing large animals to look out for food beyond their boundaries.

“Are they different from us?,” asked a little school student, elated ,watching the visual.
