
Mysuru: The death toll in Sulwadi temple incident rose to 14 with one more succumbing to the poisoned prasadam on Monday, Deecember 17. Milli Bai from Kote Podhe in Kollegal taluk died at a private hospital.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, Dr. Basavaraj, District Health Officer, Mysuru district, said, “Among 101 who are undergoing treatment at various hospitals including K R Hospital in city, 3 are in ICU-their condition is stated to be critical, 24 are under ventilator and the rest of them have recovered almost 75 percent. We have direction from the government including from chief minister to take all sort of measures including shifting the victims if needed, to private hospitals. We are also getting good cooperation from private hospitals.” He also mentioned that many of them are facing breathing difficulty and the poison is causing them respiratory paralysis.
Not only free food to patients but also to all their dependents
At K R Hospital, the hospital authorities have not only arranged free food for the patients but also for all their dependents. The authorities with help from various donors are providing food to the patients.
Dr. Dinesh who was the in-charge superintendent said, “From day one of the hospitalisation of Sulivadi temple victims we are providing food to all. To start with, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Shankar provided bread and milk to all the dependents. Later various other donors have come voluntarily to help in providing food to the dependents.”
