Somwarpet: A teenager drowned at Mallalli falls on Friday after he slipped and fell into water accidentally.

Sanmithra (19), a student of Bharathi First Grade College, Shanivarasanthe is the deceased. It is said that six students from the college had gone to the falls and around 2 pm, the group came together for a selfie. They then had their lunch and when all went up to the water to clean their hands, Sanmithra slipped and drowned.

Though two other tourists and five friends tried to save Sanmithra, all efforts only went futile. The dead body was retrieved later.

Sanmithra was the only son of Govinda and Sujatha, farmer couple from Bembaluru near Somwarpet.

A case has been registered with Somwarpet police.
