Teenage college girl ends life over stalking

Mysuru: A teenage girl ended her life over harassment by a youth from a nearby village who repeatedly forced her to fall in love with him despite her disinclination at Ankanahalli village in Hunsur taluk.
Soundarya(17), student of JSS women’s college is the deceased.

Kiran, a youth from nearby village, Manuganahalli repeatedly forced Soundarya to fall in love with him. He threatened her of pouring acid on her and killing her parents if she failed to respond. Stalker Kiran took help from Soundarya’s college mate, a girl by name Triveni when his moves were not entertained by Soundarya.

He used to make repeated calls to Soundarya and send several messages asking her and sometimes when she failed to respond, he used Triveni’s mobile phone to harass her. Finally, when Soundarya’s parents came to know about their daughter’s problem, they forced her to quit college.

Disturbed by the developments, Soundarya attempted suicide by dousing herself in kerosene on September 2. She sustained a lot of burns on her body and eventually died on September 14. In her dying declaration in front of area Tahsildar, Soundarya accused Kiran and Triveni responsible for her decision to end life.

Bilikere police registered a case and further investigations are in progress.
