Mysore: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah offered a floral tribute to the portrait of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan whose birthday is being celebrated as Teachers’ Day, at a function organized at NIE’s Golden Jubilee Hall in city on Friday September 5.
Around 40 teachers were awarded the State-level Best Teacher Awards and 10 more were honoured with awards via the State Teachers’ Welfare Fund.
Among the State-level awardees, 20 are from Primary Schools, 10 from High Schools and 10 from PU colleges across the state.
With teachers attending the function from all over the State, the venue was jam-packed. A makeshift Pandal was erected outside the auditorium where the programme was screened on a wide-screen television.
District Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad, PWD Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakar, MP Dhruvanarayana, MLAs G.T. Devegowda, S.R. Mahesh, MLCs G. Madhusudan and Marithibbe Gowda, Mayor N.M. Rajeshwari Somu, ZP President Dr. Pushpavathi Amarnath, Commissioner of Department of Public Instructions Mohammed Mohsin, DC C. Shikha, DDPI H.R. Basappa and others were present.
