New Delhi/Mysuru: Mysore Mayor B L Byrappa received the award from the prime minister after Mysuru was declared the first open defecation free city in India.
The award was given on the morning of September 30 during a special function held in the capital, New Delhi in which urban development minister M Venkaih Naidu was also present. It was most certainly a proud moment when Mayor B L Byrappa and city corporation commissioner Jagdish jointly received the award from our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for their efforts to make the city open defecation free.
Mysuru city was also declared the cleanest city in India for two consecutive years and this was an additional feather in the crown. Well, the more, the merrier; isn’t it?
