Mysuru: In a surprise raid by the police on smokers, a group of 20 members who were smoking cigarettes and Ganja at Chamundi hills were arrested by the K R police here on Sunday night. Among the accused, are some minors.

K R police took this initiative, after a few residents of the Chamundi hills had complained to the police at the public grievance meeting earlier in the day.

Police also suspect that smoking cigarettes at Chamundi hills may be one of the reasons for the fire incident that happened on Friday which burnt 100 acres of land.

The operation was carried out by circle inspector Parashuramappa, police officials Nagaraj, ramesh and others.
