Somavarpet: The residents of 18 villages that come under the limits of Kootinadu, near here celebrated Suggi Utsav, Khareef festival with pomp and gaiety.  The innumerable people joined in the celebration of Laxmi Utsav in honor of deity Sabbamma Devi at the occasion.

Its the age-old practice for the people living in 18 villages of Kooti, Yadadante, Kundalli, Nagaralli, Hemmanagadde, Kannalli, Beekalli, Bettadalli, Jakkanalli, Bettadakoppa, Halliyoor, Kottanalli, Inakanalli, Benkalli, Kudigana, Nadinalli, Taddikoppa that come under the limit of Kootinadu; and odalli village that lies in Sakaleshpur, offer special puja to village goddess Sabbamma Devi. 

The puja and religious celebrations were held in 12 altars in a naturesque 30 acre plot in Nagarahalli.

During twelve-day Suggi Utsav, innumerable devotees prayed for better monsoon and crops, to protect the village from natural calamities and contagious diseases.
