Bangalore: Congress candidates among the candidates who are contesting in the upcoming assembly elections are crorepatis.
Addressing the media persons during a press meet held here on Monday April 29, Karnataka elections watchdog Committee convener Trilochana Shastry said that 88 percent of Congress candidates contesting in the upcoming assembly elections are crorepatis, said Shastry.
The crorepatis include 72 percent of BJP candidates, 70 percent of JDS, 58 percent of KJP, 37 percent of BSR Congress, 35 percent of Loksatta and 64 percent of independent candidates, said Shastry.
Priyakrishna who is the Congress candidate contesting from Govindaraj Nagar constituency ranks first with assets worth Rs 910 crore. Congress candidate M T B Nagaraju who is contesting from Hoskote constituency ranks second with assets worth Rs 470 crore. Anil Lad who is contesting from Bellary town constituency has assets worth Rs 288 crore, JDS candidate Bage Gowda who is contesting from Basavanagudi constituency has assets worth Rs 250 crore, BJP candidate Nandish Reddy who is contesting as BJP candidate from K R Puram constituency has assets worth Rs 118 crore, added Shastry.
KJP candidate R Satyanarayan who is contesting from K R Puram constituency has declared his asset as zero. R H J Ramanna who is a Loksatta candidate contesting from Raichur constituency declared his assets as Rs 950 and Dr Abdul Karim who is contesting as Loksatta candidate from Bidar south assembly constituency declared his assets as Rs 25,000, said Shastry.
Priyakrishna contesting from Govindaraja Nagar constituency has declared her assets as Rs 777 crore. JDS candidate Prabhakar Reddy contesting from Bangalore south constituency declared his asset worth Rs 200 crore. Congress candidate Krishnappa who is contesting from Vijayanagar constituency declared that he has loans of Rs 78 crore, added Shastry.
