Mysore: Farmers protested against the police for not permitting them to meet the DC to vent their grievances relating to the procurement of their farm yields by private factories.
Local sugar cane farmers alleged that the private sugar factories are not lifting their yields and procuring sugar cane from outside, leading to losses for the sugar cane farmers. Consequently they are not able to repay their loans as the interest costs keep rising and a loss of 5 -10 tons per acre.

They wanted the DC to instruct the private sugar factories to procure their sugar cane requirements from the farmers as soon as possible.
However the police, did not allow them to meet the DC and seek his intervention, hence the protest, said Madappa, Secretary, Chamarajanagara farmers union.
