Student protests solo against Land Acquisition Bill

Mysuru: Naveen Kumar BI, a final year student of Maharaja College staged an indefinite hunger strike against the Land Acquisition Bill.

Staging a protest he said, “Farmers are the backbone of our country. Every responsible citizen must support the farmers in getting their lands back. The government has been ignoring the conditions of farmers and in turn we ourselves are facing shortage of food and the crop production is affected.”

Further he said that the parliament has passed the bill without making any detailed discussion on it. On the other hand the administrators have indulged in money making through mining. In a country like India where farmers should be protected these developments are a nuisance.

Narendra Modi has experience in selling Tea but never thought of farmers who struggling to grow sugar cane and he has concerned with only MNC not with farmers of our country. Many farmers are committing suicide just because they are getting good value for their yield, he alleged.

Pointing to the implementation of scientific technology and pesticides to the crops he said those crops will harm the health of humans which may lead to disaster in future.

Concluding his talk, the solo protestor said, “I will become a farmer, it my dream I can do my education and write my exams anytime but the reach to farmer, is the need of the hour, he added.
