Stage set for much anticipated by-election result of Ward 58

Mysuru: The stage is all set for the much anticipated by-election result of ward 58. The voting for the same which was held on July 10 will be announced on Wednesday at Maharaja Sanskrit School during which the fate of 10 candidates will be decided.

Ward 58 bypolls: 54 per cent turnout till afternoon-1There are 10 candidates in fray for the by-election but it will be a triangular fight between Congress candidate GN Manjunath, Congress rebel independent candidate KP Ashwini Ananthu and JD (S) candidate B Manju. On Sunday, among 6126 voters, 58 percent of them exercised their franchise at seven polling booths which was held without any trouble.

The by-election was conducted due to the sudden demise of Congress candidate R Ananthu. Though there was a rumor that the Congress will give the election ticket to Ashwini, wife of Ananthu to contest in the by-election, the party gave the ticket to GN Manjunath who is a close confidant of Minister Tanveer Sait. Upset with the development Ashwini decided to contest as an independent.

Ten candidates whose fate will be decided on Wednesday: GN Manjunath of Congress, B Manju of JD(S), N. Suresh of BJP, Amjad Khan of SDPI, independents K.P Ashwini Ananthu, Nayaz Ahmed, Nazim Pasha, Salim Khan, N. Srinivas and Abdul Baig.
