Mysuru: After a student complained that an invigilator was not strict and didn’t take action against those involved in talking during SSLC first language examination on March 30, the Department of Public Instruction has replaced all the room supervisors and chief superintendent at the examination centre set up at St Joseph’s School in Banni Mantap.

On Thursday, after writing the first language exam at St Joseph’s School centre in Banni Mantap, a girl told her parents about the laxity at the examination room. The parent’s inturn called the Department of Public Instruction authorities and complained about the same. The girl alleged that though the students were talking in the classroom, the room invigilator didn’t bother to take any action against those talking in the classroom or instructed them to stop. Instead he was found roaming outside the classroom, giving scope for students to talk to each other and indulge in malpractices.

The authorities who took the complaint from the parents seriously, checked the the CCTV footage which was set up at examination centre for the veracity of the allegation. After going through the footage, the authorities came to know that the allegation from the student and parents was right. The footage testified to the room supervisor’s laxity and even showed that the chief superintendent had failed to step out from her room. The authorities also mentioned that the chief superintendent who was supposed to keep tab on all the examination rooms did not get out from her room at all. Following the dereliction of duty by the existing invigilating staff, the department decided to replace all the 12 room supervisors and a chief superintendent.

Asserting the same, S P Nagaraj, Nodal officer for SSLC exam, Mysuru district said, “The room supervisor is Puttegowda and chief superintendent Uma, both from Vidyavardhaka School. As this is an aided institution, the management has the power to take action. Hope they will initiate action against the duo and send a report to the department of public instruction.
