Mysuru: A surprise visit of the Zilla Panchayat president Dr Pushpa Amarnath to K R hospital on Friday night perplexed the officials of hospital.

The ZP president who visited the hospital at 10pm enquired about the presence of the duty doctors as well as spoke to the patients and asked them about the food and water supply. She also asked the doctors about the steps taken to counter H1N1 and also directed to increase the awareness among the public about the epidemic diseases.

Pointing at the cleanliness,  she instructed the Doctors to maintain a hygienic environment in the hospital. On the other hand, doctors raised the shortage of beds in the hospital as they are forced to share the bed in the children wards.

She enquired about the food quality with the patients but most of the patients depend on the outside food rather than the food provided in the hospital because of shortage and the poor quality.

When she visited the kitchen and enquired about the food, he said food is prepared for 400 people while he hospital has 1500 beds.

Speaking to NK, the  president said she will take action on the irresponsible doctors and issue the notices. She said that she be will calling the authorities and doctors to answer the media about the condition of K R hospital in KDP meeting on monday.
