Mysuru: In a humane gesture, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded to a tweet within 2 hours after a passerby posted a shelterless family’s woes touched him. He immediately instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru to act quickly to shelter the family in doldrums.
Abdul Khader’s family with a petty shop took shelter under a tamarind tree in a makeshift tin roof structure near Satagalli bus-station on Mahadevapura Road. Meanwhile, a biker named Mohammed Kalimullah, tweeted about the family’s pathetic living condition on August 20 to CM Siddaramaiah. He tagged the video to highlight family’s woes, which just managed to survive, when heavy rains battered the city recently.
Siddaramaiah responded to this tweet and instructed Mysore DC D Randeep to address the problem immediately. DC responded to CM’s tweet within 15 minutes and assured of quick action.
On August 21 morning, the deputy commissioner accompanied by Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer (CEO) and superintendent of police met the family to take stock of the situation after gathering all requisite details.
The DC instructed the Hanchya Gram Panchayat members and officials to provide the family, a house to reside and ration card during the visit.
CM’s gesture of responding quickly to the woes of hapless poor in this specific case has been widely appreciated by one and all.
