Mandya:Congress President Sonia Gandhi today reached Mandya,to thank the voters in a rally organized at Sir M. Visveshvaraya Stadium. This was her first visit to the state after Congress victory against BJP in assembly election which was held in 2013.
The statement which Sonia Gandhi made surfaced after Rahul Gandhis controversial remark against ordinance against convicted MPs and MLAs.
Highlighting the work done under UPA government, Mrs Gandhi spoke about Karnataka governments Anna bhagya scheme and appreciated the good work by the present Siddaramaiahs government. She claimed that the state government has fulfilled all the promises made in the poll manifesto.
The UPA Chairperson also spoke about food security bill and land acquisition bill. According to Mrs Gandhi, UPAs land acquisition bill will work as safeguard to farmers of the country.Mrs Gandhi lauded prime minister Manmohan Singh and openly defended him. The President of the Congress party also highlighted the good work under UPA government.
Violence erupted in the rally when the UPA Chairperson was addressing the crowd. A man showed black flag to Mrs Gandhi. The man was later attacked by unidentified persons.
Thanking people, who gathered at the venue of the rally, Sonia Gandhi assured them that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will take care of the atrocities in the state.
