Mysuru: The Kaveri Irrigation Corporation Limited, Mysore University and NSS organized a workshop on ‘Jalajagrati Janandolana Programme’ for NSS officers and Engineers on Saturday January 17.
In his presidential address, K Jayprakash K.E.S said that tail-end farmers are not getting sufficient water, thus to improve the water supply a micro-irrigation plan will be introduced. About 4 lakh acre of land will be utilized to construct the plan, he informed.

The world may face 3rd world war due to shortage of water in future, stressed Prof K S Ranagappa VIce Chancellor of Mysore University.
Inaugurating the workshop he said awareness should be created about the importance of water to common people and villages is necessary in the present situation. Rain water harvesting should become mandatory in order to increase the underwater resource. Cleanliness and water are two face of a coin so both matters a lot, he added.
Many rules are imposed to control the waste of water in Indian constitution but still we face the shortage as most of water is utilized by the industries and becomes the reason for the water pollution. Since water can’t be manufactured, Industries should start using the treated water than the portable water.
