Mangalore: The torrential rains across the coastal district caused widespread sea erosion along the Arabian Sea on Tuesday July 22, while nearly 15 houses that are located along the coast in Mogaveerapatna, Kileria Nagar and Kaiko, Someshwar, Ucchila and Ullal are on the verge of collapse.

The sea has fully encroached on Mogaveerapatna beach.  The houses of Lalita bangera, Chitra, Laxmi Kotian, Manjula, Gowri Sudhir and Chanchalakshi that are located in Mogaveerapatna, near here are on the verge of collapse.  The house of Aliyabba in Kileria Nagar has fully collapsed, while the houses of Jameela and Rehana Ahmed are on the verge of collapse.  The house of Chandrashekar located in Ucchila is on the verge of collapse, while a guesthouse in the same locality has been washed away by high tidal waves on Monday July 21.

The families living in Ullal are shifting their household items to their relatives  homes, as the sea erosion has intensified.  The concerned officers are not responding to the needs of the family.  The village accountant of the gram panchayat has gone to Bangalore.  Several palm and huge trees were perished in Mogaveerapatna beach.
