Safety guidelines issued to schools, Sep 15 is implementation deadline

Mysore: Mysore city police have issued guidelines to all the educatioanl institutions to protect students and september 15 has been set as the deadline to adhere to the rules.

The guidelines were issued in the wake of Vibgyor school girl rape case in Bangalore few weeks back.

The schools must install CCTVs in school buses and the employees in the bus must be women. And if the staff are male, their antecedents must be checked especially drivers, peons and office assistants.

Police have asked schools to appoint officers on each floor so that kids donot go near swimming pool and playgrounds unattended.

An identity card should be given to each staff member and he / she should wear it while on duty.Students too should give all the info in thier identity cards. Police are also directed to appoint women security guards. And the CCTV footages must be preserved for atleast two months.

Police commissioner M A Saleem said that he has directed school authorities under provisions of Karnataka Police Act. “In case of default, police will initiate action against institutions for disobedience under IPC Section 188, which attracts punishment of imprisonment and fine,” he warned.
