Mysore(DH): Several works are being taken up to develop Tagaduru Kommagere lake in Nanjangud taluk, at a cost of Rs 3 crore, said, Minor Irrigation Minister Shivaraj S Thangadagi, on Saturday.
He noted that trees and bushes have started growing inside the lake boundaries during his visit and they must be cleared. He also stated that surface area of the lake must be restored.
He instructed the officials to make use of the funds released to desilt the lake, remove trees growing on the lake bed and construct a bridge over the lake.
Works should also be taken up to develop the dilapidated canal, which brings water into the lake, he said.
In order to fill the lakes and increase groundwater levels, check dams will be constructed in Mysore district, he said.
Instructing officials to clear the encroachment around the lake, he said, the boundary trenches should be dug around the lake.
