Royal estate settlement: Nephew Chadurangaraje Urs in trouble

Mysuru: In a developing twist to the to the royal family assets legal battle, a public interest litigation in the civil court has lead to police to regiser a criminal case against Chadurangaraje Urs for allegedly duplicating documents to file case against Maharani Pramodadevi in connection with the distribution of the Royal property among eligible stake holders.

Chadurangaraje Urs, who is the nephew of the late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar was disappointed when he was ignored as the legal heir to the throne, in the absence of progeny.

He  filed a case against Maharani Pramoda Devi, the wife of the  late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, alleging that the property was shared in an unequal manner sidelining the close members of the family.

In a setback to Chadurangaraje Urs’s legal battle, a public interest litigation filed by B Somashekhar and K P Purushotham questioning legality of assets located near Vinobha Road  has revealed that the document was duplicated in 1982 and sold to a private party.

According to the available document, the land was sold to Abbas S Waff and brothers in 1982 by Chadurangaraje Urs and his father K B Ramachandraraje Urs, the owner of the land.
