Mysuru: During inauguration of five day 62nd National Inter-School tennis tournament at Mysuru Tennis Club from January 17 to 21, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be felicitating promising tennis players from Mysuru-Dhruthi T Venugopal and Suraj R Prabodh.
Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event at 10.30am. Marithibegowda, Deputy Chairman, Karnataka Legislative Council, Ministers Mahadevappa, Tanveer Sait, MLA Vasu, Mayor Ravi Kumar will also be present.
Dhruthi T Venugopal and Suraj R Prabodh are doing well in various ITF tournaments. After seeing their consistence performance, Department of Public Instruction decided to honor them on the occasion. It can be brought to light that Suraj.R Prabodh the No.1 men’s player of Karnataka and a promising player of the country who is being sponsored by Cycle Pure Agarbathies, has won his maiden $5000 Asian Tennis Tour title by defeating Kunal Anand (India) by 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 in Colombo.
Promising tennis players from across the country, both boys and girls in the age group of U-14 and U-17 will be seen in action in the national-level tennis competition. Over 620 participants from 25 states will be seen in action during this five day event. This is for the first time Mysuru is conducting national inter school tennis competition in the city.
