Mysuru: Owners of Cyber Cafes functioning in city and rural areas and those intending to open new one should compulsorily get the registration done at the DC’s office here before Dec. 31. This was disclosed by DC C. Shikha while address officers of various departments on the said topic at her office here on Tuesday.
Shikha pointed out that many cyber cafés were operating without registration. She said that cyber crimes were increasing in society and urged the owners of cyber cafés to ensure that all computers were equipped with software to prevent access to objectionable websites.
Continuing, the DC said that the Department of Information Technology had fixed an application form fee of Rs. 500 and an annual licence fee of Rs. 300 for registration of cyber cafe and registration application could be submitted online. She added that Police personnel, local body, Tahsildar and other officers should inspect the cyber cafe and submit the opinion report for registration after assessing the infrastructure.
The DC instructed the owners of cyber cafés to demand ID proof before allowing the customer to use the facility and all should be documented and made available during any inspection. ZP Deputy Secretary Shankar Raju, Project Director Lingaiah and others were present.
