Mysuru: The University of Mysore notification to recruit 208 teaching faculty has been stayed as everything was not going per procedure, said Bharath Lal Meena, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Government of Karnataka.

“There were complaints about University of Mysore even earlier regarding recruitment which is under litigation. There were issues of backlogs along with other complaints due to which the government issued directions to the University of Mysore not to proceed further with the recruitment. Apart from this, Vice Chancellor KS Rangappa is demitting office in six months time. During this time, there should be no such policy implication. Similar problem existed at Janapada University where there was reservation violation and the Vice Chancellor recruited teaching staff prior to three months of retirement. The government’s intention is that the process should be very transparent and roaster and reservation everything has to be followed to the core. Mistakes took place in the past and we don’t want them to happen again,” he said.

New initiative to improve higher education

“We had introduced vocational training courses and added courses apart from the regular degree in 90 government degree colleges which would help to get employment. From this academic year, such vocational courses will be introduced in all 412 government degree colleges. It will be extra classes, extra certificate,” said Meena.

KSOU may get recognition this year

Meena said, “During the ongoing session, bill for restricting the jurisdiction, technical courses and affiliation outside the state has been stopped. I have told Vice Chancellor D Shivalingaiah to camp in Delhi to oversee the proceedings. I have even spoken to Secretary of UGC in this regard”.

Apnadesh is desi initiative

“The head office of APNADESH is in Bengaluru. Mysuru chapter is the first local chapter in the state. Here, we would be connecting people who want to do social service. There are ten sectors we are focusing including education, health, women and empowerment and creating awareness of various government programs. In days to come, we will have lot of plans, we may also start chapter in Tumkuru and tie up with Redcross,” added Meena, the founder of APNADESH which was established in 1991.

Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Dr R Balasubramaniam, founder of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement.
