Mysuru: Picture of Challenging Star Darshan became a medium for delivery of justice in a rape case.

On November 26, 2013, two men had abused two Assamese girls who had come to Kushalnagar in a circus troupe. However, while one girl escaped the clutches of the rapists, one was gang-raped.

It is said that after landing in Kushalnagar, the two Assamese girls insisted on returning home, due to which raged circus owner sent them out of the circus accommodation, late in the night.

The abandoned girls had taken refuge in a bus stand at Kushalnagar, when they spotted accused Puttaswamy and Shankar near the bus stand in an auto.

The two girls approached them and inquired about hiring the auto.

The two men took the girls in the auto and to a secluded place near Piriyapatna, they tried to rape the girls.

While one managed to escape, the other was raped by the two.

The girls then mustered courage to file a complaint and in their complaint they clearly specified that the auto in which the two men had taken them had picture of Darshan on the rear part.

Acting on this lead, Periyapatna police scanned all the autos in the area and tracked down the owner of the auto, which had Darshan’s picture on the rear glass.

However, the owner of the auto claimed that he had given the auto to his friends- Puttaswamy and Shankar on the said date.
Finally, the two were nabbed by the police and produced before the court.

The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on Tuesday, March 22.
