Ragi Mudde, Nati Koli Saaru eating contest attracts hundreds

Mysore : It was a unique contest for the  food lovers and kept their taste buds tingling. It was the traditional Ragi Mudde, Naati Koli Saaru ( chicken curry) eating contest which was organised at Madarahalli village  near Bharathinagar in Mandya. The contest was organised in the backdrop of Suggi Sambhrama.

Hundreds of people from surrounding villages had taken part in the contest which also gave them an opportunity to relish their favourite dish. The organisers had prepared a tasty curry  out of 20 kg of chicken. An entry fee of Rs 100 was also fixed as otherwise felt there  may be a heavy rush.

The contest was held in  three rounds. In the first round, each contestant was given  1 kg Ragi Mudde which he had to eat within 20 minutes.  Several people had also arrived to encourage the participants and cheer them.

The first place went to Nandish of Ambarahalli who  consumed 2.042 kg of Ragi Mudde. He won a cash prize of Rs 2222. The second place went to Ashoka of Maadarahalli who managed to eat 2.325 kg of Ragi Mudde. He walked away with a prize of Rs 1111. The third prize winner was Nagesh of Ambarahalli. He  relished 2.3 kg of Ragi Mudde and got Rs 555  as prize.

One of the participants Rajappa of Madarahalli though was entitled for a prize, he was declared ineligible as he vomited.
