Mysore: Indian President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the newly-built JSS Super Specialty Hospital here.

Speaking on the occasion, President Pranab said that after the implementation food security and employment guarantee programmes,the need lies for universal health, stressed President Pranab.


President Pranab further said that the healthcare services should be geared up not only to treat the patients but the preventive care should be put into place at the earliest. India spends a mere of 1.2 percent of GDP for health sector in the country, while other countries it is over 4 percent. At this backdrop, the private partnership in healthcare sector needs to be encouraged. Karnataka tops in general healthcare services in the country, because Primary Health Centers (PHCs) were functioning in Karnataka ahead of rest of the nations in the nation, said President Pranab.
President Pranab also urged the technocrats to develop latest medical equipments indigenously, because ultra modern medical equipments are being imported into the country. The medical colleges and research institutes in the country had to be rigorous on inventions, appealed President Pranab.
President Pranab after releasing the commemoration bulletin, expressed happiness over JSS Super Specialty Hospital and Suttoor mutt, in education, health, housing, food, skills training, rural development and social reform spheres in Karnataka, lauded President Pranab.
The Governor H R Bharadwaj, CM Siddaramaiah, Siddaganga mutt chief Swami Dr Shivakumar, Suttoor mutt Swami Shivaratri Deshikendra, ministers Srinivas Prasad, U T Khader and Dr Sharana Prakash Patil, union minister Oscar Fernandes and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
