Mysuru: In a heart wrenching incident, a pregnant woman and her three-year-old child were killed after a KSRTC bus knocked down their bike from behind.

Anupama (26) and her son Purvik are the deceased.

The accident took place when Anupama, a 7-month pregnant woman was heading to a private clinic in Vidyaranyapuram for checkup with her husband on a bike. When they reached Ooty Road, a speeding KSRTC bus knocked down the bike. Anupama after coming under the wheels of the bus threw her son in a bid to save him, but the child died after suffering severe head injuries. Her husband survived with minor injuries.

The police rushed to the spot and took the KSRTC bus and the driver into custody. A case has been registered.
