Madikeri: The annual festivities held with utmost religious fervor at Bhagamandala pilgrimage center, Kodagu, near here.
The puja were offered to Lord Ganapati, Mahavishnu, Subramanya and Bhagandeshwar at the temple, and offered Bhagina at Triveni Sangam, confluence of river, on the occasion. The Bhagina that was offered to Goddess, consisted gold mangalsutra, sari, bangles, plates and other items that were tied to plantain pulp on the occasion.
The village elders Kody Chandrashekar, Balladka Appaji, Kodimane Madappa, Narayan Achar, K J Bharat, Kaveramma, the temple administrator Jagdish Kumar, Sampat Kumar, villagers and others participated in Polinkana Utsav.
Addressing the media persons, Narayan Achar said that it’s a age-old custom to offer puja at Bhagandeshwar temple, Bhagamandala, on the last day of Ashada month and also offer Bhagina at Triveni Sangam, said Narayan.
Bhagina is being offered since ages, seeking the rain gods to shower moderate rains that could enable the farmers to grow plentiful crops in the land of Cauvery during Aati month, said Naryan.
