PM’s intervention will solve Cauvery, Mahadayi problems: Chennaveera Kanavi

Mysuru: Renowned Kannada litterateur Chennavera Kanavi said on Thursday that intervention by the prime minister will solve both Cauvery and Mahadayi river water sharing issues.

The litterateur is in the city to inaugurate the world famous Dasara celebrations 2016. On arrival at Mysore railway station along with his son by Dharwad express, the 88-year-old Nadoja award winner said, he was surprised when he received the call from the chief minister to inaugurate Dasara this year.

He said, the farmers should protest in peaceful manner and felt that only with PM’s intervention these major issues can be solved. He hoped that the CM will bring good news after his meeting in New Delhi with the Central water resources minister Uma Bharathi.

He expressed happiness over an opportunity given to him to inaugurate dasara this year and expressed concern over his own health condition.

He was welcomed at the railway station by Mysuru MP Pratap Simha by placing the traditional mysuru turban (peta) on his head. From the government’s side, Tahsildar Ramesh was present on the occasion.
