Mysuru: The parents of children who were in the Navkis School bus which caught fire due to short circuit in the engine requested the school management to come out with bulk SMS facility so that in case of emergency at a time parents can be alerted about any such emergencies. A day after the incident, many students travelling in private bus were found sitting next to emergency exit.

After school bus caught fire due to short circuit and the alert driver and couple of students who managed to save 45 children, the parents and students came out with few suggestions to school principal and management. The parents after congratulating Madhukumar for rescuing their children called upon the principal to come out with bulk message facility so that they can reach all parents simultaneously instead of calling and informing them one by one. As an alternate arrangement, till the new bus is purchased, the school authorities hired private bus with 50 seater capacity. The school authorities also assured to provide bags, books and also lunch box to students which was burnt into ashes in the fire accident.
N Mahesh, Physical Education Teacher of the school said “Nearly 20 parents along with their children came to school and gave few suggestions to us. Most of them appreciated school bus driver for his presence of mind in rescuing all the children. We have welcomed their suggestions and as alternate transport arrangements we have hired private bus”. Madhukar, bus driver said “I feel happy that I managed to save precious lives. Many people including parents appreciated my effort”.
S Abhishek, GM Shashi, GN Sriharsha and Shreyas N Rao who are studying in tenth standard and who were in the bus managed to save 15 to 20 children. The foursome after noticing smoke in the bus immediately opened emergency exit and managed to rescue the children. “Soon after we notice black smoke we opened emergency exit and got down immediately and told children to jump, after catching children one by one who were tired and scared took them to safe place. I even tried to break window panes of the bus. On Wednesday, after the bus accident, some of the students were so scared that they were sitting next to emergency exit” Abhishk said.
