Palace’ private temple priest dies, suicide suspected

Mysuru: A priest serving inside the palace’ private temple for the last fifteen years has reportedly killed himself by pouring petrol and setting himself on fire at Irangal in Anathpur district.

The deceased has been identified as Balasubramniam (54). He was serving inside the palace’ private temple meant for Wodeyar family for the last 15 years. Differences within his family and his deteriorating health condition due to acute diabetes are the reasons behind his action, reports suggest.

After taking part in the Royal wedding involving Yaduveer and Trishika, the priest had left Mysuru. He visited Mantralaya temple and reached Irangal in Anathpur district. It is learnt that he killed himself by pouring petrol and setting himself on fire.

He was well known among the royal family members for his dedicated service. He had three children include two daughters and a son who were all married.
