“Our young population is our resource”

Mysuru: “Increasing population is having a negative impact on India. But, now it has turned into a great resource of the nation. Foreign nations are coming forward to invest in India and China due to its great man power” said additional regional commissioner (Administrative and development) M R Ravi.

He was addressing management students at a two-day inter-collegiate competition ‘Manthan, churn your creativity’, organized by the Department of Commerce and Management of JSS College for Women at its premises.

Ravi said, “in the recent past, many foreign nations commented on India citing it’s over population and rapid growth of population. But, now, with large chucnk of it, being young, it has turned into a boon for the country. And many foreign nations have realized India is a suitable destiny to invest. He called upon the youth to manage internal resources”.

Students and youth must utilize the opportunity. Present youth are finding it difficult to accept defeat or failure and are becoming impatient. We need to tackle external forces, which act in development of skills of young people and academicians need to generate interest in earning among students, he said.

Stressing on management, the commissioner said management is as old as the puranas and it begins at home. Managerial skills are very much important for every individual as each one involves in managing something, he said.

Elderly people are trying to access and understand skills and the interest of the youth. “Every youth is storehouse of huge resources in one or the other way. We need to access and understand them to utilize them,” he said, urging youths not to lose spirit and enthusiasm in life.

After inaugurating the event Mysuru Zilla Panchayat president B Pushpa Amarnath said the young generation spend most of their time on social networks and mobile phones. The youth must involve in innovations which helps society.

Citing Nuclear weapons and bombs, she urged students to think of merits and demerits before invention. Around 90 teams from various colleges are participating in the two-day festival.
