Mysuru: The Mysuru District Administration has restricted public and devotees from visiting the Chamundeshwari Temple from Tuesday October 5 morning to October 7 afternoon.
In a press release, District Administration has stated that, “many devotees are expected to visit the temple on October 6 due to Mahalaya Amavasye. While the inaugural Dasara 2021 festival is scheduled for October 7 at the Hill, preparations must be undertaken for the event. Anti-sabotage checks (ASC) must be undertaken across the Hill as a security measure because Chief Minister and other VIPs would be attending the programme. It will be difficult to implement security measures if the Hill and temple remain open. Moreover, it is also inevitable to take Covid – 19 safety measures.”
In this backdrop, the District Administration has taken precautions to manage Covid – 19 from October 5. “Either by road and or by steps, entry to the Hill is completely barred to the general public and tourists and also private vehicles,” he added.
The religious rituals during the said period will be carried out as usual at the temple in the presence of priests. The residents of Chamundi Hill can use their vehicles on the restricted days, provided they carry required ID card to avail the facility.
As per the press release, District Administration has taken strict measures on the recommendations of Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta.
