Mysuru Zoo gets foal after 26 years

Mysuru: After 26 years of gap, a zebra at the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens here gave birth to a foal on Thursday.
The only pair of Zebra-Riddhi (3.5 yrs) and Sudhir (3.5 yrs) gave birth to the foal.

The first time the zoo received zebras was in 1990 when the animals (1:1) arrived from Hamburg, Germany. The male zebra named Edward and female Erina entertained the visitors and completed their full life. In 2007, the Mysuru zoo acquired a male zebra named Raja from the Lucknow zoo, which died of some infection in 2010.

Then in January 2014, the zoo acquired a male and female zebra from Ramat Gan National Park, Israel. The zebras were named Dawn, Dazzle, Riddhi and Sudhir, stated a release from the Zoo authorities

While Dawn and Dazzle died in December 2015 due to acute colic, Riddhi and Sudhir were left in the menagerie.
