Mysuru: Standing at the doorsteps of Centenary year celebration, Mysuru University is fighting acute shortage of permanent teacher and non-teaching staff.
The 100-year-old University is functioning with the help of visiting faculties mainly.
With 580 visiting staff functioning at present, they outnumber the permanent staff here.
As far as permanent teacher staffs are concerned, they are mainly heads of the departments and most of them are on the verge of retirement.
The University has three PG Centres and four composite colleges. There are 57 PG Study Centres under this university. As many as 20,000 students are pursuing PG and UG courses here. But, the sad state is that most of the study centres do not even have a single permanent staff.
The Government has permitted recruitment to 205 posts including 55 backlogs, but the same could not be carried forward due to reservation factors. However, as per University Vice-Chancellor Prof K S Rangappa the hurdles have been cleared and recruitment will be done soon.
