Mysuru: To get their passport done one need not go to Bengaluru anymore from January 25 onwards. Mysuru will have its Passport Seva Centre (PSC) at Metagalli Post Office which would facilitate people to get their passport done in city itself. The centre would be inaugurated by Union Minister Ananth Kumar on January 25.
This PS centre is different from existing Passport Seva Kendras in Bengaluru, Gulbarga, Mangaluru and Hubballi. PSC is Central government’s pilot project being introduced for the first time in Mysuru which would be a full-fledged centre wherein everything, right from processing, verification and granting would be done under one roof while printing and dispatching process would be undertaken by the regional passport office in Bengaluru. Post office officials are being roped in to work in the centre and they are being trained by the officials from the regional office.
Speaking to media, Pratap Simha said, “The centre would process 100 passports daily and the number would increase gradually. It is the first-of-its kind and is being introduced with a new concept for the first time in India. The facility can be availed by people residing in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar. As it is a pilot project, the facility would be extended to the entire Mysuru region after a few weeks. Now there is no need to approach agents to get the passport done. Apply online, submit the documents in digital form and you will be directed to PSC in Mysuru which would take up the further process.”
